About Us

Kaitlin & Marty Terashita-Clark

Yes We Can! Bakery is the name given to baked and cooked products made by Kaitlin and Marty Terashita-Clark, two nonspeaking young people with autism, who live in Saltair on Vancouver Island. The food products sold through Yes We Can! brand have been made with their participation. Commercial products such as soups, biscotti and pizza , yakitori, gyoza, hand pies, cookies and cupcakes have been prepared at the commercial kitchen facility in Chemainus, BC under FoodSafe protocols. Preserves have been made using MarketSafe protocols. Most products are gluten free and dairy free because that's how we eat as well. Gluten-free products are made with gluten-free ingredients in a NON gluten-free facility. Consumers with food allergies and food sensitivities please ask to see the ingredient list and make your own decisions. Yes We Can Bakery cannot guarantee no cross contamination. Our Story

A Special Bakery by Special People

We are unable to communicate easily because we have autism and are non speaking. Our mum, Megumi, has always believed in giving us opportunities to learn and do things. We have wanted to have a gluten free bakery for over 6 years. We have been baking at home and now, thanks to a microgrant from Autism Speaks Canada, we are able to produce food commercially for our bakery at The Kitchen in Duncan and Rising Hope in Nanaimo. We can bake GF DF and vegan to order as we specialize in small batch production. The commercial kitchens we use are NOT gluten free facilities. Our ingredients are!
